Superlatives usamos

Usamos los superlativos para describir el grado más alto o más bajo de una cualidad en un grupo. Muestran que una persona, cosa o lugar está por encima de todos los demás: el más alto, el más interesante, el mejor, el menos caro.

Usamos normalmente los superlativos al comparar tres o más personas o cosas, o cuando el grupo está claro por el contexto.

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
El monte Everest es la montaña más alta del mundo.
This is the most useful feature in the app.
Esta es la función más útil de la aplicación.
Who is the oldest person in your family?
¿Quién es la persona mayor de tu familia?
It was the least difficult task in the test.

Superlatives Forma

Los superlativos se forman de diferentes maneras según el adjetivo. Los adjetivos cortos suelen llevar -est, mientras que los adjetivos más largos suelen llevar the most. Algunas formas son irregulares.

short adjective → the + adjective + -est
long adjective → the most + adjective
opposite meaning → the least + adjective

Superlatives Regla

  • Normalmente usamos el antes de un adjetivo superlativo.
    She is the smartest student in the class.
    Ella es la estudiante más inteligente de la clase.
  • Usa in antes de lugares, clases, equipos, ciudades, países y grupos similares. Usa of antes de números, pronombres o frases como the three, them, all.
    He is the fastest runner in the team.
    Él es el corredor más rápido del equipo.
    She is the oldest of the three sisters.
    Ella es la mayor de las tres hermanas.
  • Después de uno de los, usamos un superlativo + sustantivo en plural.
    This is one of the best books I have ever read.

  • Los superlativos son muy comunes al hablar de experiencias de vida: lo mejor / lo peor / lo más interesante... que he hecho en mi vida
