現在進行形は、今起こっている行動、一時的な状況、変化している過程、そして将来の予定について話すために使われます。

現在進行形は、今起こっている行動や話している瞬間の前後に起こっている行動に使われます。

将来の予定、特に時間や場所がすでに決まっている場合に使うことができます。
I am meeting my teacher tomorrow.

-ing形を作るための簡単なつづりの規則がいくつかあります。
- 動詞が-eで終わる場合、通常はeを取って-ingを付けます（make → making）。
- 短い動詞が子音–母音–子音で終わる場合、最後の子音を重ねます（run → running）。
- 動詞が -ie で終わる場合、y に変えて -ing を付けます（lie → lying）。
make → making, run → running, lie → lying -
いくつかの動詞は通常、進行形では使われません。たとえば、know, like, want, need, understand

否定形は、am not、is not (isn't)、および are not (aren't) を使って作られます。
I am not working now.
