Present Perfect use

Present Perfect is used to talk about past actions that have a result or connection to the present moment.

I have finished the report.

Present Perfect Form

Subject + have / has + V3.

I have completed the task.
She has finished the project.

Present Perfect Rule

  • Present Perfect is often used for recent actions that have a result in the present.
    I have lost my keys.
    She has broken her phone.
  • It is used to talk about life experiences without specifying the exact time.
    I have visited London.
    She has tried Japanese food.
  • We often use time markers such as:
    already, just, yet, ever, never
    I have already finished the task.
    She has just arrived.
    Have you ever tried sushi?
  • It is used for actions or states that started in the past and continue to the present (with for and since).
    I have worked here for five years.
    She has lived here since 2020.

Present Perfect Negation

  • Negation is formed with have not or has not.
    I haven't finished the report yet.
    She hasn't replied to the message.

Present Perfect Questions

In questions, have or has comes before the subject.

Have / Has + subject + V3?
Wh-word + have / has + subject + V3?

Have you finished the report?
Has she called you?
Where have they gone?
