There is / There are si usa per dire che qualcosa esiste, è presente o si trova da qualche parte. Questa struttura aiuta a introdurre una persona, una cosa o un oggetto nella conversazione.

There is / There are Forma

La forma dipende dal fatto che si stia parlando di una cosa / un sostantivo non numerabile o di più di una cosa.

There are + plural noun

There is a problem with the printer.
C'è un problema con la stampante.

C'è del latte in frigorifero.

There is / There are Regola

  • There is si usa con un sostantivo singolare, e there are si usa con un sostantivo plurale.
    ✅ There is a lamp near the bed.

  • Con i sostantivi non numerabili, di solito usiamo there is.
    There is enough time.
    C'è abbastanza tempo.
    There is some information in the email.

  • Dopo la struttura, spesso aggiungiamo un luogo o un altro dettaglio: sul tavolo, nella stanza, a scuola.

  • Nell’inglese parlato, there is viene spesso abbreviato in there’s. Per there are, di solito si preferisce la forma completa.
